With summer weather officially upon us, rooftop patios should stay busy from now until mid-to-late fall. And nothing quite says summer in Chicago like a premier downtown rooftop with spectacular city and skyline views.
As Chicago’s rooftop dining scene continues to evolve, trendy new spots seem to open each and every year, and this year is certainly no different. Despite what pops onto the scene, however, many of the city’s most familiar spots also remain the most popular, especially when it comes to our hot list of Chicago’s best rooftops heading into the summer of 2018.
London House
Not surprisingly, London House tops our list thanks to unparalleled sight lines of the Chicago River. And despite city’s rapidly growing list of rooftop bars and restaurants, many still feel London House is king when it comes to an authentic Chicago rooftop experience.
Cindy's Rooftop
When it comes to memorizing views, Cindy’s Rooftop is certainly right there with London House. And if you prefer views of the lake over views of the River, there’s no better spot than Cindy’s, especially on a clear sunny afternoon or evening. And as you can see, even the cocktails are bright and cheery in the summertime...
Raised, an Urban Rooftop Bar
Although you’re not quite as high up at Raised as you are at Cindy’s or London House, the city and river views here are still pretty sweet, and this is no doubt one of Chicago’s top spots for an after work cocktail. And thanks to it’s location in the Loop, it’s easy to get here from just about anywhere in River North or the city’s primary business and financial district.
Streeterville Social
Perched up on the Loews Hotel, Streeterville Social has a sleek modern vibe to it in just about every way possible. The craft cocktails are as good as any other rooftop in town and the food menu is perfect for any summertime occasion.
