500 N. Lake Shore Drive is certainly one of downtown Chicago’s most sought after buildings for locals looking for a luxury rental in a location that provides an authentic urban living experience. Conveniently situated on Streeterville’s lakefront and well within walking distance to Navy Pier, Michigan Avenue, and numerous other downtown Chicago attractions, residents calling 500 N. Lake Shore Drive home won’t be hard-pressed to find all the best dining, nightlife, and entertainment venues virtually right outside their front door. Furthermore, a number of open and green park space are also located nearby, making the lifestyle at 500 N. Lake Shore that much more desirable, especially in the spring, summer, and fall months when the Chicago climate is

In a market like downtown Chicago, there’s always going to be homes, condos and rentals that blow your mind in terms of finishes, amenities and of course…the price tag. Even if you don’t happen to be in the market for a luxury rental and spending more than a few thousand dollars per month seems like something out of a fairy tale right now, it’s always fun to see what’s on the market and maybe dream that one day you too can call one of these luxury properties home.

With so many rentals currently on the market in downtown Chicago, what exactly defines “luxury” when it comes to condos and apartments for rent? Does it depend on the amount of space, the amenities offered in a particular building, or is it more about the details and finishes seen throughout

Construction has officially wrapped up and apartments for rent at AURÉLIEN are now leasing! As one of the hottest new apartment towers to hit the Gold Coast rental market, Aurélien provides a living experience unlike most buildings found throughout the Downtown landscape.

Above all, the building's location is second-to-none, providing residents with easy access to many of Chicago’s best shopping, dining, and entertainment destinations, not to mention plenty of public transit stops/stations and countless other nearby amenities as well.

As a newly built tower, living spaces are modern, sleek, and stylish, and the building’s full compliment of luxury lifestyle amenities also elevate apartments at Aurélien to a level that few buildings in the city

With so many new apartment developments coming through the pipeline, and now even quite a few condo buildings (see No. 9 Walton, 808 Wells, and 403 N. Wabash just to name a few), the Aurélien is a fabulous new rental tower that has to some degree slipped through the cracks a bit.

Being built at 833 N. Clark, Aurélien will be a 31-story, 373 unit apartment tower when finished, adding to the already incredible collection of new construction rentals to be added to the growing Gold Coast/River North inventory.

The project is a joint venture between Lincoln Property Company and Ryan Companies, while the building itself was designed by Antunovich Associates. Inside, Aurélien will be comprised of 78 studio and convertible units, 212 one-bedrooms, 76

Construction for the 26-story tower coming to State and Huron initially began with foundation work that has already been in progress since April. Aside from that, however, not much has been said about the new CA Venture project, at least compared to so many other upscale rental projects.

Earlier this month, however, new details and renderings were released about the relatively mysterious project that has somehow flown under the radar in what’s been an extraordinarily busy time for the apartment market in downtown Chicago.

Part of those details include a total unit count of 102 apartments, as well as the declaration of the building officially housing rental units despite some earlier chatter that the plan could call for condos. In addition, it’s also been

NEXT at NoCA Tower in Chicago

Although luxury condo development is starting to make its way back to the downtown Chicago real estate scene, the luxury apartment boom is still far from over. Initially announced early last year, Fifield Companies is set to begin construction on its impressive 310-unit apartment tower over at 347 West Chestnut St. near the old Calbrin-Green site.

Designed by Pappageorge-Haymes, this incredible new project, being dubbed NEXT at NoCA, will stand 28 stories high and also include 6,000 square feet of ground floor retail space. Not to be outdone by other new construction apartment towers around the downtown Chicago area, this sleek new tower will also feature an array of upscale, resort-style amenities like an outdoor pool and spa, an outdoor fire pit,

With more than 3,800 new construction rentals expected to be delivered over the course of 2015, it’s safe to say Chicago’s luxury apartment market is as healthy as ever. Last year, super luxury rental buildings like 111 W. Wacker and 73 E. Lake were welcomed to the Loop market alone, while just one year prior, Streeterville added one of the most impressive lakefront buildings we’ve seen in years at 500 N. Lake Shore Drive.

Regardless of all the new construction however, downtown Chicago is still loaded with an array of lavish apartment units in buildings that, while may not be the newest to hit the market, are still as luxurious as anything you’ll find in the city.

Trump Tower will almost always have a condo for rent that’s in the five-figure range,

111 W. Wacker Sold

Despite 111 W. Wacker just opening last year, one of Chicago’s newest and most luxurious rental buildings already has a new owner. According to recent reports from the Wall Street Journal, Heitman, a Chicago-based global real estate investment firm, has purchased the 59-story, 504-unit building at 111 West Wacker from its original developer, Related Midwest, for a mind-blowing $328.2 million—or more than $650,000 per unit.

To date, the reported transaction is the highest price ever paid per unit for an apartment building in Chicago that houses over 50 individual units, and it’s a clear-cut sign to many that the luxury market is alive and well here in the heart of downtown Chicago.

Apartments for rent inside 111 W. Wacker typically range from $1,700 to

Over the past several years, downtown Chicago’s rental market has been, in a word, crazy. From the development and opening of buildings like 500 N. Lake Shore Drive, 111 W. Wacker, and Optima to the construction and planning of a handful of others that are still in the pipeline, there doesn’t seem to be a slowdown in the luxury rental craze coming anytime soon.

If you’re like many Chicagoans who are opting to rent rather than buy in the downtown area, there’s certainly a lot to consider, as the apartment landscape seems to be changing and evolving constantly. News for an apartment tower that will replace the old Howard Johnson Inn at LaSalle and Superior broke yesterday, while other projects nearing completion like Madison at Racine in the West Loop will
