Chicago is filled with world-class museums that are visited by thousands of local residents and tourists each and every year. For those of us living here full-time, it’s easy to take for granted the wealth of knowledge we have at our disposal and not make time to see the unique and mind-blowing exhibits that go on display on a routine basis here in our great city; but if you’re like us and regularly keep up with what’s happening at some of downtown’s most renowned museums, you already know just how quickly various exhibitions and displays can come and go. So if you’re lucky enough to live in downtown Chicago, do yourself, and our city, a favor and support our local culture scene by making sure you pay a visit to these 5 Chicago museums at least once a year:

- Hours: Monday: Closed; Tuesday: 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. FREE; Wednesday to Sunday: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

- Hours: Monday–Wednesday, 10:30–5:00 p.m.; Thursday, 10:30 a.m.–8:00 p.m.; Friday, 10:30 a.m.–8:00 p.m.; Saturday–Sunday, 10:30 a.m.–5:00 p.m.; The Art Institute is closed on Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, and New Year’s Day.
