Chicago tends to get a lot of high praise for its vibe and general summertime atmosphere, and for good reason. The breeze coming off the lakefront feels great in June, July, and August, and the summer season also means it’s patio season here in the Windy City, which most of us take full advantage of whenever possible.

For dog owners living in Chicago, finding a great outdoor patio that’s also dog-friendly is essential, and lucky for both you and your four-legged buddy, there are plenty to choose from. Just recently, Eater Chicago unveiled a fabulous list of 60 dog-friendly patios in the city, but we’ll highlight several of our favorites below for you to use as sort of a Cliff Notes version:

Patio at Café Brauer

Thanks to the Patio at Café Brauer’s location in the actual Lincoln Park, there’s arguably no better dog-friendly patio in town than here. Going for a pleasant stroll in the park before or after you eat is always recommended, and because the patio here sits right on the waterfront, it’s probably one of the more scenic dog-friendly patios in Chicago as well!

Ranalli’s - Lincoln Park

Considering Ranalli’s is situated right in the heart of Lincoln Park, and the fact that the patio here seats 175, it’s hard to leave this local hotspot off our list. And admittedly, we also love the pizza at Ranalli’s, so if you haven’t been, stop by one evening while you’re out walking your pooch.

Tallboy Taco - River North

Neatly situated out on the fringe of where you’ll find most of River North’s hustle-and-bustle, Tallboy Taco is the perfect spot to enjoy some awesome tacos downtown Chicago has to offer. And with the Ohio Place Dog Park and Ward, A. Montgomery Park both just a few blocks away, there’s plenty to do after you eat as well!

Urbanbelly - West Loop

You can’t mention anything food or drink related without including a local spot over in Chicago’s one-and-only West Loop neighborhood. And when it comes to having a spacious dog-friendly patio, one place comes to mind—Urbanbelly. Featuring what’s easily one of the best outdoor patios in the ‘hood, the food and drinks here are also pretty good, making it an essential place for you and your pup to visit this summer.
