If you've lived in Chicago for any extended period of time, you probably already know how special the drinking and dining scene here can be, especially in neighborhoods like River North and the West Loop. Every now and then however, it's nice to see some of our local establishments get national, and even international, attention from renowned publications and media outlets—even if such accolades are somewhat arbitrary and subjective.
Earlier this week, two of downtown Chicago's newer hotspots in Three Dots and a Dash and The Aviary were honored with a spot on The World's 50 Best Bars rankings—a list that’s voted on by a group of more than 300 cocktail industry professionals from all over the globe.
Now in its 6th year, the annual Best Bar rankings have certainly gained notoriety over the years, and when you're taking into consideration thousands of drinking establishments in dozens of world-class cities like London, Tokyo, Paris, New York, and Miami, achieving this kind of designation is no small feat.
As for the specific rankings, The Aviary came in at #13, just ahead of Elephant Bar in New York and Nottingham Forest in Milan; while Three Dots and a Dash locked up the 27th spot on the list of fifty.
