Avondale
Found on the city’s northwest side, the Avondale neighborhood celebrates more of a working class vibe. Known for everything from its traditional Polish supper clubs to its more affordable housing, this trendy area is definitely on the up-and-coming list.
Uptown
Another option is Uptown, on the city’s north side. This diverse area is filled with ethnic dining, lively entertainment and a mix of housing, including some new development, as well as newly refurbished businesses and residences.
Portage Park
Known for its park, shopping and theater, the Portage Park neighborhood is home to the city’s largest Polish community. Mostly residential, you’ll find several two-flats and cozy bungalows throughout the neighborhood.
Humboldt Park
At home on Chicago’s West Side, Humboldt Park is known for its large Puerto Rican population, its specialty shops and its Latin dining spots. The neighborhood also pays tribute to a park of the same name, with more than 200-acres of parkland reserved for jogging, tennis, baseball and playgrounds.
