Chicago Guiness BreweryA new Fulton market brewery is inching closer to completion. The old Pennsylvania Railroad Terminal Building on Morgan Street is currently being developed into a new Guinness Taproom and Brewery.

Finalized last year, the deal means a new restaurant with local chefs, a pub, and a 10-barrel brewery for the neighborhood. The process includes both exterior and interior renovation work on the old building.

Crews are attempting to save some of the building’s history, while also bringing in more modern additions to the site. Plans call for exposed brick walls and beams on the inside, as well as a large glass wall, allowing customers to actually watch the brewing process happen.

On the outside, the plan calls for power-washing the brick, removing the existing street art, and remaking the brick into a dark brown with Guinness branding. Crews will also be adding some oversized, warehouse-style windows.

There are several public transportation routes future customers can use to travel within a short walk of the property. There’s also the option of taking the Blue, Pink, or Green lines of the L.

That’s good news because past reports suggest there won’t be any on-site parking at the Guinness Taproom. Instead, those that do drive to the brewery will need to find street parking or find a spot in one of the nearby parking lots.

This is the second US location for the beer maker. It’s expected the new Chicago brewery won’t be finished until sometime next year. After that, crews are expected to break ground on a residential tower.

That 40-story residential tower will be going up on the west end of the site. Plans for it were announced earlier this year.
