Back in January of this year, the Chicago Plan Commission approved the construction of 4 E. Elm—a development that’s sure to be one of the hottest to hit the Gold Coast in quite some time. Now, fast forward nearly 8 months later and two of the building’s 35 units are officially listed on the MLS.
In a part of town that’s known for its old-world architecture and striking residential brownstones, 4 E. Elm’s chic glass exterior has a little bit of a different feel from what we’re accustomed to seeing on the Gold Coast real estate market; but that shouldn’t detract from the desirability and inevitable acceptance of the new 25-story tower that’s being built here in the Gold Coast—a part of town desperate for new construction condominium residences.
It seems hard to believe, but 4 E. Elm will in fact be the first high-rise development the Gold Coast has seen in nearly a decade. The project, which is being designed by Solomon Cordwell Buenz, will feature contemporary, 3-bedroom living spaces, and are expected to range from $2.1 million to $7.2 million. As of now, move-ins are slated for early 2016.
