Exciting news for Chicago’s Magnificent Mile, as Uniqlo, a popular Japanese retailer known for its affordable prices, is set to open its new three-story store over at 830 N. Michigan Avenue.
The new store, which will have 60,000 square feet and be the second largest in the country next to its flagship location in New York, will be in direct competition with H&M, which is just a couple doors down, and other popular U.S. brands like the Gap and Express.
For anyone still unfamiliar with the international clothing chain, Uniqlo originally started back in 1984, only recently making its way to the U.S. back in 2005. The new Michigan Avenue location will be the first in the Midwest and according to a release, the company will be throwing a huge party on Friday for its Grand Opening, which will include music, street style dance performances, and free giveaways that include Uniqlo tote bags to the first 1,000 customers and cashmere scarves to the first 200 customers.
