The aptly named DePaul neighborhood on Chicago’s north side is centered on the largest Catholic University in the United States—DePaul University. Nestled in the heart of Lincoln Park, DePaul offers a quaint village-like atmosphere, even despite being lively and full of energy on any given day. Most of what’s considered the DePaul neighborhood is residential, but a wide range of restaurants, cafes, boutiques, and other service businesses are all just a short walk away, making it the perfect spot for those who want that quiet north side location, but also all the amenities and attractions that make living in Chicago great. And speaking of amenities and attractions, the beautiful lakefront is only blocks from DePaul’s location, while the wide-open green space of the actual Lincoln Park is easily one of the best outdoor amenities in the entire city. Other nearby destination spots include the North and Clybourn shopping corridor, a number of music and entertainment venues, and of course you’ll only be a short train ride away from any of downtown Chicago’s neighborhoods, as well as any other north side neighborhood along the lakefront and the CTA Red Line like Lakeview, Wrigleyville, or even Uptown, which features several of the city’s hottest music venues.
The DePaul neighborhood is definitely one of the smaller communities you’ll find on the north side, as it’s only about 10 square blocks in total area. And although its official boundaries vary depending on who you talk to, most recognize DePaul as being wedged in between Fullerton and Armitage with the university occupying most of the neighborhood’s north side.
