Gold Coast Rentals and Luxury Apartments
MLS Listings | Neighborhood | Top Buildings
Although Chicago’s Gold Coast neighborhood is mainly known for its towering high-rise condos on the lakefront or expensive brownstones that line any number of its tree-lined streets, apartment rentals in the Gold Coast also provide a lot of opportunities to those in search of a new home in one of downtown Chicago’s hottest locations. And while you might assume that most of the residential high-rises along Lake Shore Drive only offer condominium residences, many of those condos often hit the rental market, allowing for quite the big city living experience without the long term commitment.
Given the Gold Coast boundary lines stretch from East Lake Shore Drive to North Avenue, and the lakefront over to LaSalle, there’s certainly much more to Gold Coast rentals than just high rise condos for rent on the lakefront, however. Plenty of vintage apartments inside buildings of all shapes and sizes are available around the Gold Coast neighborhood, not to mention quite a few high-end single-family homes, townhouses, and a few of those brownstones we mentioned above should you need just a little more living space or privacy.

A Closer Look at the Gold Coast Apartment Market
In terms of price, entry level one bedroom rentals in the Gold Coast inside a vintage building or a more established high-rise will typically start around $1,500 and go up from there. Higher-end apartment rentals with two or three bedrooms or single-family homes with even more space than that will price anywhere from $5,000 to $15,000+ per month, which usually all depends on a unit or home’s features, finishes, and of course square footage. Keep in mind, though, that Chicago’s downtown real estate market does fluctuate, especially a neighborhood like the Gold Coast.
