Chicago Green River

Chicago’s Annual River Dye is on Saturday, March 16th starting at 10 AM. For those of you who have never seen this happen, it is a must-see Chicago. The boats slowly bleed their dye into the river while passing each other in between bridges making St. Paddy’s Day a spectacle year after year. People
travel from all around the country to see the river turn a bright neon green and we know the best buildings to do so.

  1. The Swissotel - 323 E Wacker St
Located on the corner of Columbus and Wacker, the Swissotel is right at the center of the river dye. If you are visiting from out of town, we cannot stress enough that this is the place you should stay for this event. Be sure to ask for a North/River facing room, preferably a corner unit on the southwest corner.

  1. Columbus Plaza - 233 E Wacker St
Columbus Plaza is known for its luxury amenities and incredible 360 views. The building offers a wide variety of floor plans and highly sought-after amenities like outdoor grilling/seating areas, a gym, indoor pedway access, laundry facilities, and a lot more. If you don’t live there, don’t worry, find a friend who does because they offer a resident lounge that is perfect for watching the river turn green.

  1. The Langham - 330 N Wabash Ave
My favorite spot on the river, the Langham is a 5-star hotel in River North. With a lounge on the second floor of the hotel, the corner-occupying restaurant offers traditional American cuisine. If you are staying at the hotel, I highly recommend paying for lounge access. Free spirits, wine, beer, and champagne, not to mention a hot bar breakfast and finger foods, the four thousand square foot lounge has the ultimate view for this event.

  1. London House - 85 E Wacker St
Known for having the ultimate rooftop outdoor space, the London house boasts 360 views of the entire river. Specifically for this event, they offer tickets for anyone to this St.Paddy’s celebration. Entry to this event includes an open bar, live music, live music, snacks, and much more. With two extra rooms as well as the rooftop, celebrating at the London House is a dream come true.

  1. Trump Tower - 401 N Wabash Ave
As the most sought-after building in River North, it is no surprise Trump Tower is on the list. With both hotel accommodations and condos, there is no shortage of space to watch the river dye in this amenity-filled building. The building is hosting four different parties inside at different venues during the River Dye, so there is an opportunity to see all that the tower offers.

  1. Chicago River Walk
The famous Chicago River Walk is the perfect spot to see all the action up close. Choose a staircase to go down on Wacker and there is your front-row seat. The River Walk spans from a little over a mile starting at Lake Michigan and ending on Lake Street. There is plenty of seating along the path, but we recommend getting there extra early so you have an unobstructed view.

  1. Columbus St Bridge
Looking down the entire river and seeing all the boats and architecture is absolutely a view that you don’t want to miss. Located at the end of the Dye, the Columbus St Bridge is where you want to be. The bridge may not offer the most space, but the views of the entire event from start to finish are totally worth being a little cramped. We recommend getting there early to snag a spot against the railing.
