Long considered one of Chicago’s most affluent neighborhoods, the Gold Coast also rightly contains some of the most expensive listings currently on the market. Filled with historic properties, designer boutiques and upscale restaurants, the area is also known for its ultra-luxurious real estate.

Currently, one of the priciest is an 8,000 square foot condo within the Mayfair. Priced at $8.95 million, the full-floor unit has undergone a custom renovation. Another unit within the same building is currently listed at $4.4 million.

With just a few days left in the year, a Chicago area mansion sets a new record sale price for 2017. Previously owned by philanthropist Ann Lurie, the sprawling Gold Coast home reportedly just sold to its neighbor, the Latin School of Chicago.

While the 18,000 square foot home was originally listed for more than $18 million a few years ago, published reports suggest the actual sale price this time around was $12 million. Still, that’s substantially more than other Chicago area homes have sold for in 2017. Until now the highest sale price for the year stood at $7.5 million. 

Originally constructed in the late 1800s, the Lurie mansion contains 12 bedrooms and 12 baths. As well, it also features an elevator, nine fireplaces, stained glass windows and

As we embark on a brand new year, new details are forming on some of the West Loop’s most expensive new listings. Among the priciest is a more than $5.67 million dollar penthouse unit within 900 West.

As well, there’s also the option of a second floor unit in the same building listed at $3.59 million and a sixth floor unit, currently priced at $2.98 million. Well, it finally happened—a fully automated restaurant has now officially made its debut in downtown Chicago, and it happens to be located right here in the Gold Coast. 

Located at 1 W. Division, the new Wow Bao restaurant takes orders from either an app or an in-store kiosk, and once its ready for pick-up, it will be placed in one of 12 cubbies that will display the customer’s name using a LED light. 

In the front of the restaurant is a small counter for dining-in customers, however the concept is designed for easy in-and-out carry-out. 

As for the food, the new Gold Coast Wow Bao location features its signature menu, along with a couple new rice bowl options, as well as Do-Rite Donuts and coffee during the morning hours.
