Downtown Chicago is full of residential buildings with great amenities and desirable living spaces, and among them are a wide range of unique and authentic loft conversions that speak to the city's rich industrial history. And not surprisingly, living in one of these residences is like getting the best of both worlds—luxury living with charming and undeniable character. So if you're wondering what it's like to call one of River North's most expensive loft buildings, take a closer look at what some of these amazing locations have to offer.

550 N. Kingsbury
This property was one of the first in Chicago to be converted from a traditional commercial building into living spaces. While built in 1920, 550 N. Kingsbury was given a new life in the mid-1990s and became one of the trendiest lofts in River North. It features multi-bedroom floor plans with tall ceilings, exposed brick walls, industrial-style lighting, and original hardwood floors. Residents also enjoy access to amenities like a door person, an exercise room, a sundeck, a valet/cleaner, elevator, receiving room, and storage. Prices start at half a million dollars and can go upwards of $1.4 million.

Ontario Street Lofts
Ontario Street Lofts is a century-old building located within the heart of Chicago's River North neighborhood. It stands seven stories tall and houses several one, two, and three-bedroom floor plans that range between $300,000 and $800,000. Prices average $212 per square foot and pair with monthly homeowners association fees that, admittedly, can be a little pricey. But residents do get access to an array of amenities, such as a door person, an elevator, exercise room, receiving room, storage units, sundeck, and even a valet/cleaner.

One River Place
One River Place was built in the 1920s, but you wouldn't know it from the modern upgrades and amenities inside. Units are detailed with top-of-line finishes, stainless steel appliances, stone countertops, towering 12 to 15-foot ceilings, and large windows. Other fine touches include shaker cabinetry, double doors, large pantries, and hardwood flooring. Some of the building's original character still shines through in the form of recessed lighting, crown molding, and classic archways. On-site, residents can enjoy amenities that make 758 N. Larrabee a twenty-first-century living experience. This includes a 24-hour door service, open-air rooftop deck, state-of-the-art fitness center, and storage area. Take a quick stroll along the Chicago River and you'll be in the heart of trendy River North, with its art galleries, restaurants, shops, and nightlife to enjoy. While you can't put a price tag on conveniences as amazing as these, current market rates average around $500,000.

420 W. Grand
This multi-dwelling lives up to its address with grand style. The vintage development once served as a part of Chicago's industrial boom, and its historic essence is still alive today. Spaces feature traditional details like exposed brick walls, high ceilings, stone fireplaces, and wood floors. The building also offers modern amenities like a rooftop lounge, parking garages, gas appliances, terraces, and W/D connections. While aged, 420 W. Grand is one of Chicago's most sought-after buildings, with units as expensive as $2.2 million a pop. Its five floors afford residents a degree of privacy and space that's hard to find downtown - not to mention a great community. Everything River North has to offer is right outside the front doors, from the Magnificent Mile to shopping, restaurants, and culture.
