If you’re searching for something to do on Halloween night, Downtown Chicago has some great options.

Navy Pier

First up, head to Navy Pier for the last showing of the Haunted Maze. The event includes a carnival like you’ve never experienced before.

The final day of the event just happens to be Halloween night. From 5pm-8pm take your own self-guided tour, winding your way through the fun.

A parade is definitely fun for the kids, but this parade is just as fun for the grownups. The Northalsted Halloween Parade kicks off at 7:30pm on Halloween night.

One Chicago developer is pulling out all the stops when it comes to efforts to lure another Amazon headquarters to the area. The proposal offers the possibility of a new concert and sports venue close to the Chicago River, and Sterling Bay is even reportedly in discussions with city leaders, production companies and professional sports leagues about a possible partnership.

As of late, the outline includes a network of riverside buildings, interconnected via a walkway from upper levels of two towers. As well, plans also call for a so-deemed “urban campus”, featuring an open quad between rows of much taller towers.

If you haven't taken notice, there is a ton of things going on this weekend in Chicago, from baseball to food and the arts. And while the list of events and festivals going on is wide-ranging, here are a few things we have our eye on...

Cubs watch party 

The fun kicks off Friday night with a home team matchup against the Washington Nationals in game one of the National League Division Series. While the teams are actually squaring off at Nationals Park, fans plan to gather for a watch party at the Park at Wrigley. 

Tickets to the watch party cost $10 with proceeds benefiting Cubs Charities. The Park opens up an hour before broadcast, with free, limited parking. Game two of the series will be up on the video board Saturday afternoon.

As home prices in neighborhoods like Ukrainian Village, Bucktown, and Wicker Park continue to spike, heading a bit further north to begin a new home or condo search may not be a bad idea, at least according to the high-traffic website Lonely Planet.

Although their findings have little to do with purchasing a home, Lonely Planet dubbed Chicago’s Avondale neighborhood one of the ten hottest in the country, and a “must-visit” for anyone traveling or planning to spend time in the Windy City.

Chicago tends to get a lot of high praise for its vibe and general summertime atmosphere, and for good reason. The breeze coming off the lakefront feels great in June, July, and August, and the summer season also means it’s patio season here in the Windy City, which most of us take full advantage of whenever possible. 

For dog owners living in Chicago, finding a great outdoor patio that’s also dog-friendly is essential, and lucky for both you and your four-legged buddy, there are plenty to choose from.
