5 Reason You have to Live In The Waldorf Astoria In Chicago’s Gold Coast!

Built in 2006 The Waldorf Astoria Chicago, located at 11 E. Walton St. is an eye-catching 60-story building.  Designed by one of Chicago’s most sought-after Architects, Lucien Lagrange. Lucien is most famous for his classical style in designing high-end, luxury residential buildings.  His portfolio includes 65 East Goethe, Park Tower, Park Hyatt, 2550 N Lakeview, 30 W. Oak, and The Ritz-Carlton Residences of Chicago to name a few.

The Waldorf Astoria (formerly the Elysian) was built in 2006 by David Physor and has two components, a 188-room 5-star hotel and 55 luxury condo units. It's currently operating under the Marriott Flag.

Looking at the building from a distance the first thing that catches your eye is the bronze crown that sits above the Penthouse on the 60th floor.  The crown sets this building apart as most developers won’t spend the extra money and we are talking about a lot of extra money to add the crown which completes the building and transforms it into a masterpiece. As you take in the rest of the 60-story structure you can’t help but feel like you have been transported to a hotel in Paris back in the late 1920s, as Wikipedia states “complete with colonnades, spires, and a motor court”.

The building is sheer elegance with its arched windows, brown facade, and extra large terraces that cascade down the east and west portions of the building.

So let's get down to brass tacks, here are 5 reasons you have to live there:

  1.  Whole floor or half floor! That's correct, you pick.  If you go with a whole floor you will live in 7000+ Sq. Ft. and have incredible 360-degree views of the lake and city.  If you need a big space for that baby grand then this is the place for you.

  2. Hotel Amenities - Living above a hotel certainly has its perks, the Waldorf offers room service, a luxurious Spa, a steam room, an indoor lap pool, 2 restaurants, a lobby lounge, and valet parking.

  3. Amazing views - if you can land a unit above the 40th floor you will be privy to some of the most amazing views of the lake, south city skyline and the best sunset views Chicago has to offer.

  4. Location - Located in the heart of the Gold Coast the building sits on the southwest corner of Walton and State with Rush St. to the east.  This location has become the new place to shop for high-end luxury goods as retailers the likes of Hermes, Prada, and Christian Louboutin have opened their doors.  Hip restaurants such as Adalina, Maple And Ash, and Le Colonial are just a stone's throw from your front door.  If you love to walk,  the location doesn’t get any better.

  5. Great Value for the Price - A 3000 sq. ft 3 bedroom will run you between $800.00 and $1,000.00 per foot. The Assessments average $.75 - $1.00 per ft. which will cost you around $3,000 for a 3 bedroom.  When you compare this to some of the newer buildings in Chicago it is a real steal.

So to sum it up, it has just about everything you would want in a dream condo, Location, Architecture, Terraces, Space, Amenities, and let's not forget service.
