Downtown Chicago's Best Places to Get a "Chicago-Style" Hot Dog

No matter how long you've called Chicago home, there's a good chance you've noticed we have quite the selection of hot dog joints scattered all over the city. But as is the case with most restaurants and eateries, some Chicago hot dog stands tend to be more highly-regarded than others when it comes to taste, creativity, and quick and efficient service.

So with the warm summer weather and the much-anticipated baseball season fast-approaching, we figured there's no time like the present to provide our readers with a short-list of the top places to grab a Chicago-style dog, because let's face it—in a city like Chicago, there's no really no end to the number of great places to grab a hot dog and we really don't want to be here all day...

Portillio’s Hot Dogs

If there’s one name that’s synonymous with hot dogs and beef sandwiches, it’s probably Portillio’s. Now a household name to most who call the Windy City home, they didn’t reach the big-time by serving bad food.

Downtown Dogs

A super convenient location for those who use the Red Line, Downtown Dogs might be our favorite spot for a variety of fast-food items like Polish sausages, cheap burgers, Italian beefs, and yes—a true Chicago-style hot dog.

America’s Dog

So maybe a Chicago-style hot dog isn’t your thing. At America’s Dog, you’ll have your choice of whatever style hog dog you want, from a New York-style sauerkraut and brown mustard hot dog to San Francisco-style hot dog with chili, mustard, ketchup, relish, onions, pickles, tomatoes, cheese, and more. The options here are awesome, and for my money, the Memphis Dog is THE BEST!
