Best Chicago Restaurants

If you’re looking for a great place to grab a bite to eat in Chicago, you certainly don’t have to venture far. There are some tasty options out there, serving up everything from fried chicken and pastries to fine cuisine.

Kasama - Ukrainian Village

It hasn’t been open for long, but Kasama in Ukrainian Village is already known for its long lines. This crowd-pleasing restaurant serves up a daytime menu and pastries during select hours on Wednesdays through Sundays. On Thursday through Sunday evenings, the hot spot opens for what it calls its 13-course, Filipino-inspired tasting menu. Eater.com recently ranked Kasama one of “The 11 Best New Restaurants in America”. It’s also deemed the world’s only Michelin-starred, Filipino restaurant.

Tabu - West Loop

Tabu maintains it serves up Pan-Latin-inspired cuisine and cocktails in the West Loop. The shop’s eclectic décor is just one clue about what you can expect to find dining at Tabu. The restaurant draws its menu selections from the influence of Mexico, Columbia, Spain, and other locations. It also boasts that its food pairs well with one of the largest collections of Tequilas and Mezcals in the entire City of Chicago. The restaurant is open in the late afternoon and open evenings every day of the week but Monday.

Reunion - Navy Pier

Reunion operates out of the main restaurant space at Navy Pier. Run by Oprah Winfrey’s former personal chef Art Smith, Reunion delivers comfort food in a welcoming setting. Menu items include everything from fried green tomatoes and deviled eggs to fried chicken and catfish, pulled pork, and shareable, family-sized desserts.

From Here On - Downtown

If you just can’t decide on one spot, why not head to From Here On. Found in the old post office, the food hall brings in Durango-style Mexican food inspired from the dishes of Northern Mexico, and a recent addition to Chicago, where you can feast on Nashville hot chicken. There’s even a bakery in the location with donuts, brownies, homemade pastries, and more on the menu.

Nine Bar - Chinatown

If you’re not in the mood for a full sit-down meal, you may want to try out Nine Bar. Described as a speakeasy-style, cocktail bar in Chinatown, Nine Bar offers a snack menu consisting of Mapo hot fries, dumplings, noodles, and Hong Kong-style French toast. Wash it all down with a glass of beer and sake, or one of the bar’s specialty drinks and cocktails.

Publican Quality Bread - West Town

Publican Quality Bread may have started out in the basement of Publican Quality Meats, but bread and pastry lovers can now visit its new location in West Town. The small café is the place to go for sandwiches, salads, and, of course, baked goods. Items sold at the café come straight out of the oven on a timely schedule. Publican sources local ingredients, subs out honey for refined sugar, and foregoes additional chemicals and pesticides in the process.
