With just a few days left in the year, a Chicago area mansion sets a new record sale price for 2017. Previously owned by philanthropist Ann Lurie, the sprawling Gold Coast home reportedly just sold to its neighbor, the Latin School of Chicago.

While the 18,000 square foot home was originally listed for more than $18 million a few years ago, published reports suggest the actual sale price this time around was $12 million. Still, that’s substantially more than other Chicago area homes have sold for in 2017. Until now the highest sale price for the year stood at $7.5 million.

Originally constructed in the late 1800s, the Lurie mansion contains 12 bedrooms and 12 baths. As well, it also features an elevator, nine fireplaces, stained glass windows and original woodwork.

It’s expected that the school will use the home for administration needs and its yard for a future play area.
