In case you missed it, the 14,260 square foot penthouse on the 89th floor of Chicago’s Trump Tower officially hit the market last month for a cool $30 million. Not surprisingly, the newly available penthouse is now the highest-priced condo currently on the market.

The current owner, Sanjay Shah, the CEO of Hoffman Estates-based software company Vistex, paid $17 million in cash for the unit back in 2014, which at that time was also just a raw space. According to a report in the Tribune, Shah never actually moved into the space but did finish off the unit with walls and ceilings.

Even with those improvements, the opportunity to make it your own is still there, adding significant appeal to a luxury buyer looking for a truly customized living space.

This particular unit inside Trump Tower features 12 rooms—five bedrooms and 7.5 bathrooms—as well as 19-foot ceilings in the main living area, 18-foot windows, private elevator access, and sweeping views of the cityscape.

The unit also carried a $257,391 property tax bill in 2020 as well.

Currently, the only condo sales in Chicago history over $17 million include the Park Tower penthouse filmmaker George Lucas and his wife purchased in 2015 and the four units Ken Griffin purchased at 9 W. Walton for $58.75, of which only one was for over $20 million.
