Chicago New Construction
In many ways, 2015 has been the year of new development in downtown Chicago, but with so many large-scale projects underway, much of the city’s new construction will undoubtedly carry into 2016, and even beyond for some of the mega projects that have either been proposed or are already in the works.

As of today, 21 high-rises are currently under construction somewhere in Chicago, ranging from apartments to condos, and even a few hotel developments mixed in as well. And while that number is certainly impressive on many different levels, some of the city’s most impressive projects could still be on the way, like Wanda Vista, 113 Roosevelt, or the massive River South development that could potentially bring 900 more residences to the South Loop riverfront.

Perhaps what’s most telling about new development in Chicago, however, is that 14 of those 21 towers are new apartment projects, suggesting the red hot rental market is here to stay, at least for the foreseeable future.

So with things being so crazy when it comes to new development in Chicago, keeping track of what’s coming and what’s going certainly isn’t easy right now. But to help keep you as updated as possible, here’s a look at just some of what’s currently under construction on the residential side of things:

4 E. Elm

An uncharacteristically modern development for the Gold Coast, this sleek new building will stand 24 stories high when finished, but only house 35 ultra high-end units. With limited space available, you better hurry if you’re interested in condos for sale at 4 E. Elm.

9 W. Walton

Featuring the kind of elegance and architecture you would expect to find in the Gold Coast, 9 W. Walton not only resembles buildings like The Palmolive and Waldorf Astoria, it’s also right on par with them from a price standpoint as well. Check out more about 9 W. Walton condos for sale here.

Wolf Point West

Designed by bKL, Wolf Point West will be positioned right alongside the Chicago River and is the first of three towers planned for the small plot of land that juts out at the river’s confluence. In all, Wolf Point West will feature 510 individual units over 48 stories and occupancy is expected for January 2016.

New City

As part of the fabulous Clybourn Corridor development that is brining tons of new shopping, dining, and residential space to a prime Lincoln Park location, the New City apartment tower will stand 19 stories high and put residents in a great spot that’s close to all kinds of new installments like a movie theatre, grocery store, and plenty of new restaurants and boutiques.

750 N. Hudson

Among all the new construction, 750 N. Hudson in River North tends to get lost in the shuffle. But given the popularity of River North, there’s no doubt this new 240 unit rental building will thrive once construction is completed. 10,000 square feet of retail space is also expected to be part of the project.
