A much-anticipated plan for redevelopment along the river just took another step forward, as developers officially filed zoning paperwork with the city. The land in question includes seven acres of riverfront land that currently belongs to the Chicago Tribune.

For some time, rumors have swirled about redeveloping the land, but now a potential project appears to have gained new momentum. According to the filed documents, plans call for four new towers to be built just to the south of Goose Island at 700 W Chicago Avenue.

Plans call for construction to start on Office Tower 1 first, with a delivery date as soon as mid 2019. That building would offer around 435,000 square feet of office space, including terraces with skyline views.

West Loop Development NewsA beautiful new hotel project is being discussed for the West Loop and will be up for approval by the Plan Commission later this year.

If approved, the new West Loop Hyatt Hotel will be built over at 113 N. May Street and is expected to house trainees of McDonald’s “Hamburger University” training program, which of course will also be moved to the city once the new McDonald’s headquarters is finished right down the street.

The design of the new West Loop Hyatt Hotel has been slightly modified from the original proposal, which included a 19-story building with 220 rooms. The new revised design from Eckenhoff Saunders Architects now only stands 16 stories high with 200 rooms.

Chicago Development News The Chicago Housing Authority (CHA) has apparently put plans to build a high-profile mixed-use development on hold, which would have included brand new retail space and at least 436 residential units.

According to a recent report from Crain’s, the impressive Holabird & Root-designed complex, which is detailed in the video below, never really got far beyond the initial proposal phase thanks to the city essentially lacking the resource to develop three Cabrini-Green projects all at once.

Had the project moved forward, the complex would’ve been situated at a prime corner lot at Halsted and Division, which currently sits vacant just waiting to be developed.

As noted by Crain’s, no timetable has been set for eventually building out the Halsted and

It was all the way back in December of 2015 that plans for a new health-conscious hotel from the Equinox Fitness chain were unveiled, but since then, not much else has been discussed.

But earlier today, Curbed Chicago hinted this large-scale new development could once again be on the horizon thanks to the posting of several new renderings on SkyscraperPage.

Initial plans for the new Equinox Hotel called for a towering 369-foot high-rise that would include 145 hotel rooms and 20 for sale condos situated up on the building’s upper floors, but nothing appears to be official, even as these mysterious new renderings are posted.

The Equinox Fitness brand officially went public back in 2015 and hoped to expand the company’s brand into the hospitality

A new report from Curbed has revealed that yet another new residential project could be in the works for the West Loop, which at this point is hardly a surprise. As one of the hottest neighborhoods in town, the West Loop is absolutely booming right now, and the latest proposal on the table is a new 52-unit apartment building that’s slated for 128. S. Laflin.

Currently occupying the site is a small one-level industrial building, which would of course be demolished should the project gain approval and construction eventually move forward.

According to Curbed, however, West Loop neighbors aren’t thrilled about the early design concept given its close proximity to the Jackson Boulevard Historic District.

With the project only just now is the early

The complete transformation of Fulton Market looks to be continuing its path forward as reports recently surfaced about its newest large-scale development finally getting underway.

According to a new tidbit from Curbed Chicago, the fabulous new office building at 811 W. Fulton just received its construction permits and will soon be getting underway, which will certainly help anchor the neighborhood’s rapidly developing “gateway” once the dust settles on this fabulous new addition to the area landscape.

The faux warehouse design is absolutely fabulous and of course blends in perfectly with the rest of the Fulton Market area, and along with adding plenty of new office space, renderings suggest additional retail/restaurant space will also be included

More jaw-dropping development could be on the way for the New Eastside, and no, we’re not just talking about Vista Tower, which is currently under construction with listings already on the MLS.

According to a series of reports, a number of mixed-use towers are currently in the works for one of the largest urban development projects in the country, and if built, would bring hundreds of additional residences and hotel rooms to the fast-growing neighborhood.

Two of the new towers, which would be a joint-collaboration between Magellan Development and Australia-based Lendlease, would top out at 80 stories and 50 stories respectively and be situated right alongside Lake Shore Drive just south of the river.

A third tower is also being discussed that

Downtown Chicago New Construction Apartments on the MLSBy now, there’s a pretty good chance you’ve heard the narrative—new construction rentals and apartments continue to be delivered all throughout downtown Chicago, and just when we think there might be somewhat of a slowdown on the development side of things, another large-scale project is announced.

If you take a closer look at the downtown Chicago apartment market right now, dozens of highly-attractive options and opportunities are available inside of some of the highest-profile projects to just recently be completed.

Earlier today, Crain’s Chicago unveiled a series of spectacular new renderings of what could take over what’s essentially one of the last undeveloped parcels in all of River North.

Officially located at 443 N. Wabash, the owners of the existing Shops at North Bridge shopping mall appear to be floating around an idea that would essentially involve adding a fairly complex network of elevated pedestrian bridges that would connect the existing shopping mall to a new proposed tower that could possibly include additional retail space, residential space, and maybe even a hotel, according to reports.

Macerich, a real estate investment trust that currently owns the Shops at North Bridge along with 48 other shopping centers, originally bought the Shops at

The downtown Chicago area has seen a whole lot of new development reshape both the city’s landscape and its distinguished skyline in recent years, and now with 2017 already half over, which almost seems hard to believe, there seems to be no sign of a slowdown coming anytime soon, especially as the Chicago Tribune just reminded us of how many large-scale projects are still currently in the works.

According to the piece, Chicago has at least 10 developments that will cost $1 billion or more to finish, which are either already under construction or at the very least in the final planning stages before development can officially begin. And while the roster of these mega-projects of course vary in terms of eventual use, here’s a quick look at what to
