According to numerous media outlets, developer Related Midwest has announced a stunning mixed-use development that could potentially include a luxury hotel, condos, apartments, a new park on the east side of Lake Shore Drive, and also another extension of the rapidly growing River Walk.

Back when the Spire site was acquired, an architecturally significant project was promised by Related Midwest, and it appears they fully intend to follow through with that proclamation.

A new plan is reportedly in the works at the site of the former Chicago Spire condo tower. Work on the luxury tower, which once aimed to become the second tallest building in the world, stalled shortly after construction began.

Now about a decade later, a new developer is planning to release its plans on what to do with the site. Those plans are slated for public release within days, though it’s been suggested in the past that any new project could possibly rival the Spire.

Originally, the more than two-acre site included plans for a 2,000-foot condo tower, but construction ended with the building’s foundation. Years later, another developer came in and added landscaping to appease concerned neighbors, but few details have been released on what’s

New renderings were just revealed for a planned mixed-use development that will soon be built at 171 N. Wabash in the Loop. According to Curbed, the building will feature 81 new apartments and 5,500 square feet of ground level retail space, and also provide a location that’s just steps from two CTA stations, which is important given the project won’t include any on-site parking.

The new 171 N. Wabash building was designed by Chicago-based Hartshorne Plunkard Architecture (HPA), and its warehouse-like exterior blends in perfectly with other neighboring mid-rise buildings that date back to the 1920s and ’30s.

Also featured in the new renderings is a pretty sweet rooftop swimming pool and sun deck, and also the noticeable addition of “vertical planted

It hardly a secret that Chicago’s Logan Square neighborhood has been on the upswing for awhile now, and new demolition permit data that was recently highlighted by Chicago Magazine confirms what most of us already know: Logan Square is still red hot heading into the busy spring season.

According to the figures, Logan Square saw the most teardowns of any Chicago neighborhood in 2017, tallying 109 demolition permits in all. Not far behind was Chicago’s booming West Town neighborhood, which of course encompasses Wicker Park, Bucktown, Noble Square and East Village. For comparison sake, West Town registered 93 demolition permits.

As for what’s being built, it’s fair to say builders and developers are shifting from higher-end north side neighborhoods like

An elegant new residential option could be coming to the Gold Coast, where developers are planning on constructing a new high-rise. At least that’s according to a new rendering recently shared on an online forum.

The proposed Gold Coast high-rise sits at the northwest corner of Oak and Dearborn streets, close to the Newberry Library. While currently few details on the developer are being released, the rendering suggests the building could house around 70 individual units and more than 160 parking spaces.

While the proposal calls for keeping a portion of an existing building already at the site, it also includes adding a new tower to the property. That tower would be more than 30 stories tall.

Chicago’s highest-profile project is reportedly up for sale according to multiple news outlets. As first reported by Bloomberg News, prominent Chinese developer Dalian Wanda Group is seeking buyers to assume its 60% ownership stake in the mesmerizing new Vista Tower near the city’s lakefront, along with the $900 million Vista hotel and condo development in Beverley Hills, California.

According to the reports, the sell-off seems to be directly tied to Chinese regulators cracking down on risky offshore spending rather than current market conditions or the long term outlook for what will undoubtedly be one of Downtown Chicago’s premier residential high-rises.

It’s estimated that Wanda’s investment between the California project and Vista Tower here in
